Like many in the industry, Sara grew up with a passion for animals and as a young adult, quickly determined that she would pursue a career as a dog trainer. As co-founder and trainer at K9 Goodlife, Sara specializes in promoting positive training and rehabilitation solutions for dogs and their human companions.Sara is a recent graduate from Canada West Canine Center with multiple certifications that include: Certified Master Trainer, Obedience Instructor and Kennel Management. As well, Sara has completed both Dog Safe and Pet First Aid certifications with Walks N” Wags Pet First Aid. Working at a busy downtown pet daycare and spa allowed Sara to experience and manage many breeds and packs of dogs. Sara has attended CKC Obedience Trials as well as numerous Scent Detection seminars. Sara believes that ongoing education is an integral element of dog training and has committed to professional development by attending courses and seminars regularly to update and strengthen her skills and knowledge.Sara has extensive experience training and rehabilitating many breeds and temperaments of dogs and enjoys spending time with her own pack of Belgian Shepherds, her Border Collie/Australian Shepherd cross and her Miniature American Shepherd. Sara has a passion for the work and many dogs that she has fostered and rehabilitated for Raincoast Dog Rescue and has a special place in her heart for the many “misfits” that she has helped to transform. in the last couple of years, Sara became a handler and volunteer for K9 Search and Rescue Dog Association of Victoria and has most notably achieved Supporting Associate level with her Belgian Shepherd, Mufasa.Sara has recently discovered her passion for dog sports, and has competed in Disc Dog Competitions with her Belgian Malinois Maui, and her Mini American Shepherd Ullar. She has also taken Freestyle courses, Frisbee courses and recently finished an online Agility Trainers program called handling 360. this year she will be competing with her Belgian Malinois Maui in Dock Diving Events all over North America.She has helped form a Disc league, and continues to expand her knowledge in the dog sport world.Sara always approaches her dog training with her warm personality and the optimistic outlook that there is something new to be learned from every dog. Her devotion and success in building and healing relationships between dog and humans is consistent and measurable. Sara is grateful to have this opportunity to share her skills with others and to direct her passion and energy towards the belief that even the most challenging training situations will have a positive outcome.
